FP556 : A Comparison of Visual Outcome after Implantation of Monofocal IOL and Trifocal IOL – A Pilot Study

Dr. Brig (Mrs) Sagarika Patyal, P05829, Dr. Poninder Kumar Dogra

Phacoemulsification with monofocal IOL [ZEISS CT ASPHINA 603P(GROUP-1)] and a trifocal IOL [AT LISA TRI 839MP (Group 2)] by standard technique. Outcome measures were uncorrected distance visual acuity, corrected monocular and binocular distance visual acuity, uncorrected near visual acuity at 40 cm, contrast sensitivity, presence of dysphotopsia.

RESULTS: Each group= 30 eyes. At 06 weeks UDVA 0.16±0.08 (Group 1) and 0.109±0.08 (Group 2). DCVA, 0.025±0.08 and 0.015±0.03 respectively. group 2 patient benefitted with additional unaided near vision and intermediate vision.contrast sensitivity 1.65±0.15 in group 1 and 1.20±0.30 in group 2 respectively.

CONCLUSIONS: trifocal IOL model provides good near, intermediate visual correction, excellent distance outcomes which is comparable with monofocal .Patients have a true spectacle independence with Trifocal IOLs. The result of contrast sensitivity and glare were also comparable with monofocal
