All patients were followed up on 1 week, 1, 3 and 6 month. On every follow up BCVA, anterior segment, fundus photograph was done.
Results: After 6 months of follow up 22(91.67%) diabetic patients showed improvement in BCVA and 2(8.3%) patients showed unchanged BCVA without progression of diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema. All 36 non diabetic patients showed significant improvement in BCVA.
Conclusion: Final BCVA improved in majority of diabetic and non diabetic eyes except for those with macular edema and diabetic retinopathy, without progression of diabetic retinopathy after phacoemulsification.
