Purpose: To evaluate the integrity of IS-OS junction & ELM using SD-OCT in patients having type 2DM& to correlate with V/A, duration of diabetes& control of diabetes.
Method: prospective observational study carried out on 90eyes of 46patients during January-13 to July-15. SD-OCT grading of DME done.The length of disruption of ELM and IS-OS in foveal region was measured in radial scan and 3D scan& graded as follows:Grade 0: no disruption,Grade 1: disruption ≤200µm,Grade 2: >200µm.
Result: In 72.70% no disruption, 13.60% grade 1 & 13.60% grade 3 disruption of IS-OS junction in controlled group.In 52.20% no disruption,8.7% have grade 1 & 39.1% have grade 2 disruption in uncontrolled group. There is positive correlation between DME grading,disruption of IS-OS junction(p=0.016) & ELM disruption (p=0.015).BCVA decreases as disruption of IS-OS junction(p:0.001) & ELM (p:0.021)increases.
Conclusion: SD-OCT is an important prognostic tool to evaluate foveal microstructural changes
