FP971 : Intra Cameral V Moxifloxacin Vs Cefuroxime in Preventation of Endophthalmities – A Comparative Study

Aim- To compare the efficacy of both drugs in preventation of post operative endophthalmities.
Methods:
• 2 groups of 100 patients each were selected randomly.
• All patients were done Phaco with Foldable IOL .
• 1 group was given intra cameral Moxifloxacin &  the other was given Cefuroxime .
• Follow up was done on Day2,  Day 7 & 30th Day.
• Patients with Intra operative complications were excluded.
• Povidone iodine ophthalmic solution was used at the end of surgery.
• Duration – 1st Nov 2015 to 30Th April 2016.
Results:      None of the patients from each group developed endopthalmities  after 1 months follow up.
Conclusion:    Efficacy of both the drug found to be equal. But we are using Moxifloxacin in off label mode.
