Dr. Debasish Bhattacharya [D03075] – Barrackpore
Cataracts in India are becoming softer, the economy is getting better and phaco machines and foldable IOL’s are touching affordability. Having learned Manual SICS, we need to convert to a more satisfying phacoemulsification procedure. This instruction course is by an institution which is actively involved in Phaco training, oers a step-by-step conversion from Manual SICS to phacoemulsification through video assisted teaching materials. The course includes common learning problems as recorded through the trainee’s performance to the effective management of the situation by the supervising experienced phaco surgeon. Using the SICS nucleus in goat’s eye to practice the steps in phacoemulsification is shown through video assisted
teaching. The basics of phaco dynamics is explained through animation. The various steps, rhexis, automated IA, incision, sideports, nuclear rotation, trenching, cracking quadrant emulsication and chopping are explained with videos and animation.
