Aim- To display various techniques of visual acuity testing in children of various age groups

Methods-Different age groups are tested differently. Visual acuity testing in infants is carried out by Optokinetic nystagmus test,Preferential looking test. Methods in children aged 1-2 years marble game test, Sheridan ball test. Methods used in children aged 2-3 years are dot visual acuity test, coin test, miniature toy test,cake decoration. Methods in children 3-5 years are illiterate E cutout test, tumbling E test,Isolated hand figure test, sheridan gardiner HOTV test. Various methods in school age children used are snellen’s test types, landolts test types.

Conclusion-Testing vision in children is a comprehensive task requiring special skills, time, patience and understanding but it can be made easier with the above techniques.
