Aim-To study the efficacy of lid retractor tucking and skin muscle resection for entropion correction.
Materials and methods: A cohort of 89 eyes of 89 subjects with entropion were studied. The data collected regarding patient demographics, etiology of entropion, and surgical history was collected. Depending on the severity, patients were selected for respective procedures.Outcome measures included surgical success rate, preoperative and postoperative eyelid position, and surgery-related complications.72 patients of grade 1 entropion were corrected with tucking in which lower lid retractors were sutured to lower tarsal plate. 17 patients of grade 2,3 were corrected with skin muscle resection in which a small strip of skin is resected and margins sutured. The problems encountered were chances of recurrence and excessive correction leading to ectropion.
Results: We found that both the methods were equally effective for correcting entropion.
