An eye can incur injury to the extent of creating significant personal, finanancial, societal and medical burdens. However, for these eyes with significant ocular trauma,the prognosis continues to improve as we advance our understanding of the pathophysiology of ocular trauma,medicines,instrumentation and surgical techniques.Open globe injuries are repaired under GA. There are certain suturing principles to be followed during corneoscleral lacerations repair.We use 10’0 nylon for corneal tear repair. Stellate corneoscleral lacerations are closed by these methods as shown. Sometimes cyanoacrylate glue can seal small defects.It is very important to bury corneal suture knots. Here is shown, the technique of temporarily removing rectus muscle,when the laceration extend under a rectus muscle that cannot be retracted safely.When the uvea is prolapsing, in the posterior wound the tissue falls back when the repair is oversewn and the wound is zippered closed with 6,0 vicryl as is shown.
