Dr. Sangeet Mittal, M09477, Dr. Kanwaljeet H Madan

35 year old male was diagnosed to have bilateral Purtschers Retinopathy following a road side accident. His best corrected visual acuity on presentation was 6/60 in right eye and counting fingers one metre in left eye. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) showed the presence of thickening of inner retinal layers accompanied by subfoveal serous detachment and cystoid macular edema. Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA) confirmed the presence of Purtscher’s Retinopathy.3 injections of intravitreal Bevacizumab were given at monthly intervals in both eyes. his best corrected visual activity improved from 6/60 to 6/6 in right eye and counting fingers only to 6/9 in left eye. The fundus pictures showed decrease in the number of cotton wool spots. Central foveal thickness improved from 396 micron to 243 micron in right eye and from 451 micron to 255 micron in left eye. There was complete resolution of sub-retinal fluid. Bevacizumab may be useful in treatment of Purtscher’s Retinopathy.
